Scent Guide

There are an infinite number of olfactory notes and scent combinations, yet most people tend to be drawn to a certain type of scent. To simplify the process for our candle customers, we classify these scents into families.  The four scent families we use are: woody, floral, exotic, and fresh.

Floral

The floral scent family is one of the most common families. They usually smell like fresh-cut flowers or have a powdery note to them. Floral scents are perfect for the spring and summertime.

Smells Like: Fresh cut flowers (rose and lily), powdery, sometimes sweet

Woody

Woody scents are usually warm and opulent, mixing fragrances like sandalwood and patchouli with drier notes like cedar. To tone down these notes, woody fragrances will sometimes incorporate some fresh notes like citrus or floral.

Smells Like: cedarwood, sandalwood, vetiver, oakmoss and amber

Exotic

Exotic scents include herbs, spices, and dry powdery notes. Exotic scents can be described as sensual and warm.

Smells Like: spicy and sweet notes of vanilla, myrrh and anise

Fresh

Fresh scents are clean and bright. Herby, citrusy and oceanic scents all fall into this category as are zesty or fruity scents.

Smells Like: sage, bergamot, grapefruit as well as green and sea spray
